Our MD and Flow Batteries Europe Secretary General, Anthony Price, visited the construction site of the world’s largest flow battery in Laufenburg, last week.

Located at a key cross-border grid hub between Germany, France, and Switzerland, the project aims to stabilise power flows and support long-duration renewable energy.

Led by FlexBase Group with support from Flow Batteries Europe, it will deliver over 1.6 GWh of storage and 800 MW of output. Designed to run for hours or days without using critical raw materials, it offers a safer, scalable energy solution for Europe.

Insights from the Laufenburg flow battery project and sector developments will be shared at the International Flow Battery Forum in Vienna, taking place 24–27 June 2025. https://flowbatteryforum.com/
